I haven't tried to yet or bothered looking but wondering if any of you guys have tried it? I have been getting HD movies, mostly blue ray rips online. And I am building a Core Duo 3.0ghz, 4 gigs of ram, 2 Terabytes worth of storage for my media hub and for others to use since I can get it all here at work. I figure why not just hook it up to my projector and then my 360 and be in the other room and stream the HD movies to my other living room for others to watch.

I guess my question is how much bandwidth is needed to stream these movies to the 360? Also do you have to do anything different to the 360 or the server so you can stream non-WMV movies to the 360? :xyxthumbs:

most HD rips that you download will be in Mkv (x264) format, which the Xbox 360 doesn't support.

you can stream movies easily to your xbox360 through Windows. you just put all your movies in a shared folder on your home network, then go into Windows Media Player and share your library.

as of right now, I think you can only stream .xvid, .divx, .avi, and .wmv. (WMV-HD also works)

^Yeah you have to download an update to play AVI's on your xbox, well I had to anyway. Why don't you just fill a portable harddrive with movies, then plug it into your xbox?

thats what I did, but my portable hard drive filled up too fast.

I usually download new movies as .xvid, stream them from my computer to my xbox, watch them, then delete them.

Your comp sucks lol... except the storage that's adequate. and the ram is decent,.. but get a Core 2 Processor. Core 2 Duo owns regular Duo.

How big is your drive? I'm looking at getting a 500 gig, there only around $150 here I think.

Do you need to be running vista to stream from your computer to your xbox?

Use a program called GOTSENT. It converts .mkv files to .mp4 so they can be played on the 360 or PS3.

thanks sick, I finally got it to work. i found that tversity on a different site that recommended it. I might just get another computer and hook it straight up to my projector so I don't have to connect anything.

I will get 4 gig ethernet cards and put in each of my PC's and take one of my cisco routers from work so bandwidth will never be a problem again. Damn real HD 1080P takes a good amount of bandwidth.
