I personally think, NRL players are alot tougher, due to the fact these guys dont wear any protection - unlike NFL players which wear a tonne of padding.

Discuss.

I agree NRL, but some guys on our football teams with/without padding would murder some NRLs,
someday ESPN should have a Vs thing NRL Vs. NFL seriously. NRL plays with padding, then without, and NFL with and without.

Rugby is far tougher to play. More running, no real stopping, no padding.

Don't get me wrong a good game of NFL is great, but it would be so much better if it didn't stop every 5 seconds.

Either way AFL pwns all of them. Faster, more skillful, still plenty of hard hits, still no padding and the players have necks.

No that would be the predator mode post. :xmaskekegay:

Anyway, I would expect a Queenslander to not understand a fast moving game like AFL. Your brains can't work that quick. :xmasrofl:

They're different sports. Overall, rugby is probably "tougher", but that doesn't mean that the rugby athletes are tougher than the american football athletes. I would bet every penny that no rugby player is anywhere near the specimen that Mario Williams is, for example.

Just like Rugby players would get completely plowed over at the line of scrimmage every time.... different sports dude.

I agree it is hard to compare completely different sports with different types of athletes.

I had that argument with a coach that will remain unnamed. He seemed to think that if NFL was to suddenly switch to rugby that they would absolutely dominate the rugby world. The only point that is valid is that it is a larger population base to draw athletes from. Everything else is moot as you just won't get a guy that is the size of an NFL player to keep moving all game with no substitutions and breaks. Just as you won't have key players covering a half marathon every game unless they are lighter like the AFL guys. So all the athletes have trained and developed to suit the game they play.

Neither. Rugby Union.

Correct! :xyxthumbs:

Grant NFL players are capable of some suicidal moves with their body armour and the fact that they take role-specialisation to an extreme degree but take away their armour and they wouldn't even think of it. For all round toughness you can't beat a union forward. If league players learnt to scrum and ruck and maul then that would go a long way in their favour.

And in agreeance with Tim and IS, different horses for different courses, but AFL is still for fags. :p
