It's fine to not eat in between. When I was younger I used to be big about getting post WO nutrition right after my last set because of that whole "window of opportunity" thing, but the more I learned the more I realized how obsolete it really was as long as you're eating a steady, complete diet through out each day. I do 30min right after my last set now before eating and I've noticed no henderance to my gains.

Pretty much, I'd by no means neglect peri-workout nutrition, but I agree with most of this.

Depends on your goals also, ie, cutting/bulking, and your overall routine.

I do 20 mins of cardio after the workout and only after cardio I drink my shake.
I think there's no need to do it in between.
The way I see it is that the muscles only start their recuperation process atleast after the body cools down, its not right after your last set so there's plenty of time to put food in.

Agree with thicknasty and IS.

The "PWO window" is actually pretty long, and if you eat several meals (5-7) throughout the day or have a pre-workout meal then how quickly the PWO meal is taken becomes rather irrlevant.

If you doing a lean bulk then I'd be going the protein after lifting and then doing cardio. If you are leaning down then lift, cardio then PWO protein and carbs.

Can you explain me the advantage of in a clean bulk drink a PW shake between the workout and cardio?

^^ One you are trying to gain weight so the goal is to switch to the anabolic state as quickly as possible. The other you are trying to lose fat so you don't want to take in carbs prior to cardio.

thanks Tim.. you're right. the shake is going to prevent the catabolic effect of cardio.

Natzo, the quicker you read about nutrition as a whole, the sooner you'll realize dieting is one big jigsaw puzzle.

Now in your situation, I don't think a shake prior to cardio would do as much as you'd think. The digestion and absorption process isn't complete immediately following consumption, it's a lengthy process. However, because there is a higher influx of calories, the chances of you noticeably sparing muscle for energy, is low.

It's all relative.

This was what I said in my first post:

I confess i'm not a nutricion especialist, but I do know that digestion of a shake probably hasn't even started when I finish my cradio. But that was my doubt, and that Tim gave his opinion, if it was better to take it prior or after.? and now I still have the same question.
I guess it doesn't matter... but is there any advantage of ingesting it prior is it going to stop the catabolic effect quicker? is it good to do cardio right after ingesting 500ml of protein shake?

I read your post. If not, I probably wouldn't have responded, right?

My point is that it won't matter too much. What you eat throughout the day will be more decisive as to whether or not the shake will play a large role. I'm no "e-specialist" either, but if you come to a forum with a question or concern, usually us members will give you an insightful response for you to work upon. If you don't like the response, don't address them in your subsequent posts.

Another point i was making, was that the more you understand nutrition, the more relative and reasonable things become.

I agree with all that you are saying.
