I gave something similar to this a try a few years ago. I went from benching 325 to 355. I didn't follow it as strict as I should have, but it definitely did wonders the short time I followed it. Change is always good for the muscles though. I might even try this again just out of boredom and to escape the monotony of my regular routine.
