I realize that the original cut of Apocalypse Now is under three hours but, really, the Redux? The extra scenes do nothing to improve upon an already exemplary film. They're needless and hindering. Anyway, here's a small handful:

Andrei Rublev
Satantango
The Godfather Part II
Barry Lyndon
Celine and Julie Go Boating
La dolce vita
Fanny and Alexander
Gone with the Wind
Lawrence of Arabia
Short Cuts

I've only ever saw the redux version, can't comment on the shorter version.

I've still to watch the Godfather trilogy.

I bought the "complete dossier" which has both editions. I watched the original first and then the Redux and was pretty put off by the additional scenes. Hopefully they'll release the original cut on Blu-ray because having to switch discs mid-film is annoying as hell, especially if the film's length doesn't require it. Satantango or Berlin Alexanderplatz being on more than one disc is necessary. This isn't. It reminds me a bit of the old Goodfellas release, which required the viewer to flip over the DVD halfway through.

Yeah, you should get on that, as I hear the BD transfers are stunning. They may be over-hyped for you by this point though.

It's just you. Those aren't really considered the greatest movies ever made outside of IMDB.

It's terrible...the movie, not the video.
