Protein - Milk

Maybe this would sound a little bit newbie but I should ask.

I take milk because I think (and always heard) it was a "must-have" in most diets but if you check nutriotional facts milk "only" has 3-3.5% of protein.

Tuna has somewhere near 25% protein.... then... why milk is underrated?

Tnx a lot 4 your answers, mates. :thumbsup2:

Per 100ml theres about 3.5g protein. When you consider how little 100ml of milk is you can see it's good. Also the protein in the milk is high in quality. And obviously theres lots of good minerals in there too.

EDIT: Soory ive just realised ive not even answered your qeustion. I honestly don't know why it is underated :D lol

Maybe because people are scared because of the sugar (lactose) in the milk and think it will get them fat.

Ok, think about it his way:

100ml of milk -> 3.5 grams of protein
100ml of milk -> 103.2 grams of milk

Milk has 3.39% of protein. It's not a high percentage. Ok, maybe milk casein and rest of proteins are mega-great quality. If not, I don't understand why is underrated.

Tnx a bunch 4 your answer, mate.

I'd agree with Flex, except on the carbs as I'm not big on pulses:

Protein - milk

Carbs - potatoes

Fats - olive oil

Milk is fantastic stuff. Milk varies between 3 and 5% protein, with a high proportion of casein, some really great fractions of casein and whey that you don't get in protein supplements, all sorts of health factors, plenty of vitamins and minerals, some lovely nutrients for your bones and soft tissues......... FANTASTIC!!!

Considering 100mls is very little to drink, it is very easy to consume 500-1000ml of the stuff and makes a great solution base to your PWO shakes.

Because ever since Arnold said it was for babies, bodybuilders seem to stay away from it.

:D

And here i thought that i was the only guy that eats lentils with the rest of my Caribbean folks ;)
I love lentils.

It's an excellent source of protein for vegans also.
