i have been using both lately but m having a tuff tym gettin the form rite as i go heavy using extensions...

so just curious how important is it to have extensions in trainning...and how to really target the long head if you dont do em....

Presses are the king by far. I don't really believe in all the "targeting the long head/short head/dick head" shit anymore, just press heavy weights and your tris will bloom.

Plus, heavy extensions can play havoc with your elbows. I will admit to quite often using extensions in my training still but this is mainly due to shoulder problems restricting the amount of pressing volume I can do. I go heavy but generally no less than 8 reps.

Recommended tricep exercise list:
CG Press
JM Press
Weighted Parallel Dips
Tri-pushups

I do HEAVY presses and the I add at the end one handed tri extensions to burn them.

It works wonders for me!

Close grip bench, dips, pushdowns and tricep pushups are all great. those are the exercises i can do for tris atm. sculls and extensions bother my left elbow too much and ive therefore discarded them.

kk...seems presses is definately winning...

but suppose a new guy gets in the gym nd he has no such problems doing presses or extensions...no elbow issues..

what would you guys tell him to do...

should he stick to only presses or dips or he should experiment with extensions until his elbows give up on him..

As said be the others, pressing movements is the king. extensions can be done as warmup though
