I have a feeling this game will be a serious contender for Game of the Year 2010...

I've always thought that a free roaming western game would be so awesome and i love spaghetti westerns.

I hope so, but if you do a quick search on google, you will find a bunch of letters from T2 employees working on the game stating it is not going well.

Hopefully it can all be pulled together, because it looks awesome.

Whats T2? I thought Rockstar was working on it... It seems like development is going fine or else they wouldnt be showing the long gameplay series video. Everything they showed looked pretty solid and usually a lot of that stuff they showed is some of the stuff they put it after most of the technical issues are resolved... Oh well, i hope things turn out well. Its gonna be epic

My bad, it is rockstar, for some reason i was thinking take two. But the comment still stands. They are having issues with its development.

It's not so much a problem with development as it is a problem with Rockstar management. The issue is that some spouses of Rockstar employees say that the working environment is gradually deteriorating as the employees are lied to about due dates and forced into overtime.

Rockstar made a statement about it and says conditions should be fine, and it is not effecting any games, especially Red Dead.

As for the stories spreading around the internet, yes we have noticed them. Unfortunately, this is a case of people taking the opinions of a few anonymous posters on message boards as fact. No business is ever perfect, but Rockstar Games is a tight knit team made up of around 900 supremely talented and motivated professionals, many of whom have worked here for a very long time. We're saddened if any former members of any studio did not find their time here enjoyable or creatively fulfilling and wish them well with finding an environment more suitable to their temperaments and needs, but the vast majority of our company are focused solely on delivering cutting edge interactive entertainment. We?ve always cared passionately about the people working here, and have always tried to maintain a supportive creative environment. There is simply no way Rockstar could continue to produce such large scale, high quality games without this. That being said, making great games is very challenging, which is why we have and will continue to try to keep hold of some of the best talent in the industry and support them in every way we can.

All that aside, this game looks like it's going to be really good.

I really hope the game turns out to be awesome. But management is always going to say that the process is going well.

Its not just the wives saying this. Several former employees have commented on the poor state of red dead redemption. I hope those rumors are false, but time will tell.

Shane Satterfield from GameTrailers.com said he was able to play a few missions at Rockstar and said it was awesome. He talked about how fun the Bank Heist mission from GTAIV was and how they really tried to capture that type of fun and immersion into every one of their missions. He also said you can shoot weapons out of your opponents hands.

Yes and yes. At least I think....

I'll be a little more descriptive of the demo I played. It was just a quick mission where you have to find some treasure in an abandoned house that is getting ransacked by some bandits. It was really loud in the booth so I couldn't hear it all, but it seems like the voice acting is top notch. You interact with this old wirey dude who you escort to the house. He isn't useless, he does shoot at the enemies, and even says snarky things such as "He was all mine, you would have been dead without my help." after you kill someone.

Anyhow, we started out in the middle of the desert. Lots of plants and wildlife around. We called our horse, which you can do at anypoint in time, and ran off toward the mission marker. Your horse has a health bar, we were informed you can shoot your horse yourself and skin it if you like, but you have to buy a new one, haha. We ran to a shack where the little dude was living and he gives you the run down on the mission, then you head off to the house.

Cover is going to be a big deal in this game. In some games you can change the camera so that it is over different shoulders for peeking around different corners, this game does it automatically. This can get annoying though because out in the open the camera will be over whatever shoulder it was when last used to manually aim. This means sometimes it'll be over your left, sometimes over your right. Hopefully they fix that so you can change it manually. Anyhow, we run up to the house and fight bandits the whole way. Every bandit drops ammo and you can even loot the bodies for stuff.

The one thing I really liked was the Dead Eye system. This is basically bullet time. You have a gauge that depletes when used and refills over time, and refills faster when you kill. There are 3 levels of DE. 1st level you slow down time, 2nd level slows down time and you can "paint" targets. Painting a target is as simple is moving the cursor over them, and the game will tag the shot automatically. Popping multiple people in the knee caps is awesome BTW. The 3rd level allows you to paint enemy targets as well as objects. An example given to us was we could paint an enemy on the knee cap and paint a lantern hanging over his head. You let go of the button, you pop him in the knee to drop him from running, then you shoot the lantern overhead, it drops on him and he lights on fire.

Another cool thing about it is that if you get really close to an enemy and shoot them, you pull off an execution style shot. The only one I saw was using the rifle, the player just put it to the back of the enemies head and pulled the trigger. They are quick and brutal it seems.

And one last thing, the health in this game is regenerative. The only bars you have to worry about are you horse's health and your Dead Eye time.

Sounds great cork!

I heard there were brothels but you cant have sex with the chicks... but the person who said that played it a while back and he was impressed with the game none the less.

I also think its really cool that the horses muscles flex as they move around.
