Sleep Patterns

Have any reliable studies been performed on sleep patterns?
like instead of sleeping at a stretch, one sleeps 5 hours every 12hours.. etc... afaik its called polyphasic
I`m interested in this area

Yes plenty. My friend/housemate worked in a sleep clinic and they did studies all the time.

Just do a search on Google Scholar by topic or keyword.

i did a brief search using: Sleep patterns ,research sleep patterns, Polyphasic sleep
didnt find much research documents....

the little i found seemed to point that the best way is to do it the way everyone does it. one long stretch, then either nothing or a short nap.. what do you think?

^^ Google scholar!!!

Just like Google Books, or Google Images or Google Videos, there is a specific section that will look at just scholarly articles and the like.

Polyphasic sleep resulted in 2100 hits alone.

Agreed, but there isn't as much money in that as there is the "regular" internet.

But their algorithms are awesome, really really efficient.
