Are there guys on the board who can and use overhead squats in their routines? Just recently learning the movement but I pretty much suck at it because of the lack of shoulder flexibility.

Love them.

I usually use them as a warmup exercise on leg days. I also chuck them in as a pre-squat ramp up.

A very humbling exercise, especially considering I can C&J more than I can OH squat (by 5kg).

I've done them as a warmup, but nothing with a respectable weight. I'd like to start doing them properly though.

Back when I did oly lifting, I did them before every session just for warm ups. Never went too heavy with them.
I have a terrible right knee now, though, can't do that stuff anymore..

I actually think that they are a terrific shoulder exercise. Put BW above your head and squat it a few times, then tell me about your traps, shoulders, etc.

Its just an amazing lift if you ask me. If you want flexibility, a stronger lower back, full body stimulus or core stability than the overhead squat is your friend.

I used to do them but I had a front delt injury that limits my flexibility. I used to routinely do overhead walking lunges too. I find that the stretch in the shoulder isn't as much in the walking lunge because you don't go down as far as a full squat and the weight doesn't go so far behind your head.

I dont do them but i can do because i'm very flexible in my shoulders when i tried them a few times. Ive just never considered putting them in my routine.
