Hey guys, a mate of mine has just put out a brilliant iPhone app called Fun Run Trainer. You use it when you're doing cardio on your treadmill. It gives you the opportunity to run scores of famous routes from all around the world instead of just going through the motions wishing you were outside :)
Here's the write up on their website
The only way to use a treadmill. The most enjoyable way to train for an event!
What does the Fun Run Trainer App do?
Run anywhere in the world on a treadmill
Train for any upcoming event as if you were there
Tells you exactly what the elevation setting should be in real time
Shows you a moving satellite map that tracks your exact progress
Play music from your iPod app whilst running
Audio feedback gives you inclination, speed, pace and distance updates
Creates a diary log of all your treadmill training
Facebook integration lets you tell others where you have been
Create your own training route or your favourite event route
Provides a large number of pre-created routes:
Famous Events - e.g. Boston Marathon, City to Surf, etc
Popular Routes - Hundred of popular routes around the world
Custom Routes - Create your own routes to use on your phone
Famous Beaches - Go for a run or walk along any beach in the world
Famous Streets - Wall St, Hollywood Blvd, Champs-Elysees & more
Train for an actual event as if you were there. Run down that street or take a walk along that beach you've always wanted to visit. Run across that bridge that is normally off limits. Have an edge over your competitors as you get familiar with a course that is too far away to travel to. Fun Run Trainer will revolutionize your training and is a must for serious athletes or anyone who wants to enjoy fitness.
