Surely one of the best routines I've seen for the past 12 years...I know that Kai is a master, but I like this style more...

And THAT ^^ is how BBing Posing is done... Kai hardly ever hits BBing poses in between whatever that he does on stage whereas Rusty was hardly doing anything but hitting BBing poses, holding them and gracefuly transitioning from one to the other... PLEASE dont even compare bloody Kai's to a classic/classy Rusty routine!!!
@MVSF1 _ he does have a classic BBing structure, large flaring pecs, deep rib-box and hanging lats but he has a history of doing half-job contest preps and now he is sadly too old too... he could have been a lot more but IMHO never really seemed to have given his all!

Considering the fact that the posing routine isnt even scored anymore, what constitutes BB posing? I thought it was displaying your physique in the best way. You guys are assuming that Rusty Jeffers is the apex of BB posing yet it is subjective at this point since there are no guidelines other than displaying your physique. You guys are talking about hitting mandatory's but thats what the Pre-judging and mandatory poses are for and judged. Seems like you guys want pre-judging posing with smooth transition and photo-op stances. The posing routine isnt even judged anymore so whatever criteria it had is already lost, you step on stage and display your physique however you want. Nobody poses like Kai, he is an originator to his style when it comes to professional bodybuilding so in some ways he is a master at posing. Rusty Jeffers is simply taking the same poses that have been used for decades. Kai's posing and pauses while unconventional and controversial are often new. Who ever originated those poses used by Rusty and many others was just like Kai, a true originator who tried something different. His poses were less sexually provocative but they come from an era of a sexually repressed and conservative society which is probably why they are more widely accepted.

First, thanks for not reading my post as being overtly laced with vitriol, as I was at least attempting to be somewhat humorous and/or facetious. But on to the topic at hand, if the posing round isn't scored anymore, then it wouldn't be subjective, as the judging in a bodybuilding show is already an inherently subjective endeavor; it would be, well, nothing. In this, the posing round can be seen, and moreover interpreted, by the competitors as they see fit, though I still approach the carte blanche interpretation that you're positing with some hesitance. To master posing, one must go beyond innovation. While important, originating new styles of displaying one's physique is only important insofar as said styles have some practical application. You hinted at cultural relevance, which is a good enough jumping off point, but I think you're missing the point with what you addressed in way of social ramification/reaction. I doubt, and highly at that, that Jeffers's classical approach to posing is rooted in sexual conservativeness or repression, and instead is merely a byproduct of more a conventional way of showcasing one's strengths; there's a reason those stances gained popularity throughout bodybuilding's golden age. The idea that Kai is subverting the norms associated with sexual acceptance would only ring true if there existed some nexus between his routines and preconceived barriers of discretion. In my opinion, the only link that surfaces between the two, at least in the case of Kai, is one employed by outsiders -- I don't think there's enough evidence to suggest that he's willfully challenging the concepts of taste. More likely is that he's using his background as an exotic dancer, coupled with his physical dexterity and limberness, to do something new, yes, but this has to do more with his own professional ecology and not with epochal shifts. In our context, mastery comes from the acuity one demonstrates in displaying their build, not merely with invention. Think about it this way: there are a ton of useless inventions out there -- it's what we ESTPers do. But it's how these original ideas and fit into applicable paradigms that truly separates conceptual mastery and flaccid innovation. Hopefully that makes sense.

What i meant by it being subjective is that there are no guidelines to rule something as being true posing or faux posing so saying one is greater or more legitimate than the other is pure opinion. My statement about sexual conservatism is to say that Rusty's poses are somewhat safe and less sexually provocative than Kai's. The era in which the "classic" style of posing was started was a much more conservative era which may have added to the lack of sexually provocative poses in professional bodybuilding. Kai's routines are not as accepted and if you look around in the forums, most of people who dislike Kai's routine take issue with the sexual provocativeness (which is tame if not absent in Rusty's routine) which triggers homophobic and/or erotophobic responses while ignoring the aesthetics of Kai's posing.

I guess you are right about the classic posing being better as far as it being a tried and true way of displaying ones physique that is universally accepted and effective. That being said, many people believe Kai's routines are better than classic, amazing and flawless and that does not make them wrong considering its a subjective matter. You could say boxing is subjective since the judges decide the winners of each round but there are still guidelines to what boxing really is as far as connect percentage, amount of damage caused, power punches landed , knockouts etc... While bodybuilding currently has no guidelines and no judging for the posing routine other than displaying your physique however you want, there is no right or wrong since there are no officials saying so. One cannot say that Kai's routine is not real bodybuilding poses when in fact him displaying his physique in the set uniform makes it real bodybuilding posing by default. Kai is an originator, some of his poses may not be widely accepted or appreciated but he is a master at what he does considering he does it exceptionally well regardless of how polarizing it may be.

Aside from the sexually provocative nature of his routines, i don't understand the dislike. He does in fact hit a ton of "classic" poses aswell as his own improvised poses.

Line, this isnt so much an arguement towards you. You made valid points, i was mostly elaborating on some of the points i was trying to make in my earlier post.

I just realized this post is really long so for those of you who don't want to read it, ill just leave this gem here ;) an socially attractive human body... we normally post girls but there shouldn't be anything wrong with posting the opposite sex, should there?

You could actualy see some "tamed" hints of sexual provocativeness in Rusty's routine... WOW... for a guy who is so sensitive as to pick up hints of sexual provocativeness in Rusty's routine then goes on to fight tooth and nail for what Kai does... you are one heck of complex young man, young man!
Dude regardless of how long a mumbo jumbo you conjur up, bottom line is theres a time and place for everything and what Kai does on BBing stage is out of place & time for BBing contests! Its meant for and should be left in the porn stack of "admirers" of human body!
