My personal favorite guitarist is Duane Allman. I love the Allman Brothers Band, own a lot of their albums and just plain love their music. HOW THE FUCK are these guys higher on the list than Mark Knopfler and Brian may, and HOW THE FUCK are they even in the top 20.... seriously.

There are SOOOOO MANY brilliant guitarists that SHOULD be on that list. That list isn't about tallent or skill, its about popularity.

Clapton should be number 1 imo.

I can deal with the top 10, would make a couple changes, but nothing I'd really argue about... but the rest of the list is horrible.

It baffles me how someone like Kurt Cobain can make the top 100 GUITARISTS of all time

Keep in mind, this isn't my list and I also don't agree with a large portion of it as well. It was Rolling Stone magazine.

Eddie Van Halen, #70?? Get the fuck out of here with this list.

Pretty sure this has been discussed before.

I hate these lists because they are usually compiled based on some pretty stupid assumptions. For example I know that Kurt Cobain made this list because of his supposed influence and trend setting on guitar music. That doesn't make him a great guitarist, it just makes him an influential musician.

And excuse me, but Jimi Hendrix is not the greatest guitarist of all time. Not even close.

I agree. I think he was very innovative as far as testing the limits between what people considered sound and noise, but I don't think he was the greatest.
