The sheer casual nature of these workers this high off the ground with no safety whatsoever just while they eat lunch is unbelieveable:

Lunch atop a Skyscraper (New York Construction Workers Lunching on a Crossbeam) is a famous photograph taken by Charles C. Ebbets during construction of the GE Building at Rockefeller Center in 1932.

The photograph depicts 11 men eating lunch, seated on a girder with their feet dangling hundreds of feet above the New York City streets. Ebbets took the photo on September 29, 1932, and it appeared in the New York Herald Tribune in its Sunday photo supplement on October 2. Taken on the 69th floor of the GE Building during the last several months of construction, the photo Resting on a Girder shows the same workers napping on the beam.

Not so much amazing as just humbling when the innocent victims of war are right there in your face. This was one of a series of photo's by the photographer awarded the Pulitzer prize that year:

Baghdad - Mohammed Saleem, 18 months, lies in a coffin at a Sadr City morgue. Relatives said the boy and four other family members were killed in their car when U.S. forces opened fire overnight. (Photo by Karim Kadim, June 6, 2004)

A fireball erupts from one of the towers of the World Trade Center after the second plane hit. In the background, smoke billows from the other tower that was struck minutes earlier. The Brooklyn Bridge is in the foreground.

    Re: Amazing & Landmark photos

The Falling Man on is still a little hard to look at. I cannot imagine that it is easy at all for anyone who lost someone on that day. It is a sad reminder, but also an iconic image that really makes you think a lot more than your standard image. That is why I love these types of images, though, because they really do capture the essence of "a picture says a thousand words" and you can really go on and on thinking about them. Thanks for sharing.
