Nice Hypo! It's the only BluRay I have bought myself so far, next one will be BladeRunner. The visuals are awesome, so is the soundtrack.

the OST and soundtrack with bands in it, both sound awesome
i have both of them. the part where Pinbacker turns into some type of demon though
kinda goes off track with reality.

Then it would have been just like every other space movie, with manufactured drama and overtly emotional goodbyes. Starting the film in space was one of its better ideas, as it eschews convention, making the viewer infer more about the characters through their current actions. It's like reversing cause-and-effect.

It doesn't matter though. 2001: A Space Odyssey is so far ahead of other "sci-fi" films (okay, pretty much all films) that it's not even funny.
