Chapter 10 study from the book or revelation


Some of the significance of Chapter 10 is that it is the half way mark in the seven-year Tribulation period. We are going to see some things that let us know we are in the middle. From chapter five to chapter ten have covered only the first three and half years of the Tribulation period. There are some teachers who believe that the church goes through the first half of the Tribulation. They are willing to endure this because they have a misconceived idea that the first three and half years aren't all that bad. Their reasoning is, the Antichrist causes peace and prosperity so it cannot be all that bad. These people are not reading the scripture very carefully. The Bible says that the Antichrist uses peace to destroy many. That doesn't mean the Antichrist brings peace, he uses it.

You see Yasser Arafat has used peace to do what he could never do with guns, he is conquering Israel inch by inch each and every day with peace The Palestinians would have no chance whatsoever in an all out war. But using the hope of peace they are going to have themselves a state right in the heart of Israel. The Antichrist is going to achieve power by using peace. He won't achieve power using guns. But once he has power he will use guns, lots of guns. This three and half years are not peace and prosperity. There will be some that prosper, but there will be more who lose everything including their lives and souls. By the time we get to this place in Chapter 10 the world will have lost at least 50% of their total population, by today's population that will be three billion people dead. And can you imagine what this world would look like when three billion people drop dead from various sources during the three and half years? Then think about the three billion that are left? They are related to the three billion that are dead and it would anguish to their souls. The three billion that are left are living in the climate that has been created by nuclear war, winds, earthquakes, poisoned waters, destruction of food, starvation, and famine. When you have this kind of chaos there will always be someone waiting in the shadows that wants to bring you a new world order. One of the Masonic Temple's sayings is "Out of Chaos Order." But what they don't tell you is that they are the ones that create the chaos in order gain control by offering the solution.



Governments often do that, they engineer some crises so that we will allow them to pass a law to protect us, that takes more of our money and gives us less freedom. They engineer it that way. People say we need to stop this problem, or we need an answer to the problem, then government says right back to us "here is your answer, a new law." The more laws we get, the more in danger we are, enforce the ones that we already have. So in the middle of all this chaos and crises, one figure is looming at the top of all of it. The Antichrist is, consolidating, conquering, gaining ground. He has gained so much ground that he has made enemies everywhere. The Bible talks about people wandering after him, there will be people following after him, but there are others that want to challenge him. Some of those challengers are found in the Orient. We have seen their war. Before this last three and half years of the Tribulation is over, they are going to organize their armies to go meet the Antichrist head to head for control of the world. Some amazing things will happen then.

Remember the three types of chapters, Chronological chapters giving events in order, Chapters one through six were that way. Chapter 7 is another kind of Chapter, it was parenthetical, this means it is giving you information that you can't slip into a chronological order. It is often because it is happening at the same time as an earlier event. The third types of chapters are parallel chapters, in some way their events are happening in the same time frame as other chapters events. Chapter ten through fourteen are in some respect concerned with the Middle of the Tribulation. The middle of the Tribulation period is going to be a very busy time so you will need more than one chapter, to show us what is taking place and we will be jumping around a little to get the entire picture of what is going on. But I think it will be clear.



1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

We have this large angel with a little book in his hand. I might suggest to you that this angel might be the Arch Angel Michael. We know from the Bible (Daniel 12:1) that Michael stands for Israel in the Middle of the Tribulation. This is the exact time when he will be standing up for them. We will see in Chapter twelve that he is sent to get Satan. Michael's angels will cast Satan and his angels down out of the air to the earth. There are a number of scripture references that reveal that this is the time Michael's presence is made known. I am sure that Michael would be an awesome sight to see.


2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, 3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. 4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

John hears seven thunders. What are they? Your guess is as good as mine. John was told to seal them up. If someone says, they know what the thunders are, he is a false prophet stay away from him. It is possible that the seven thunders are so awesome that there is no human way possible that you and I could even understand what they mean. There are some things that our minds just don't understand. There are things beyond us. When these events happen then we will understand. My second thought about the thunders, is that the devil reads this book. He is going to try and figure out just how he might be able to frustrate God's plan. If the devil can do that, just messes up one area in God's word and cause it not to happen, it will throw away credibility of all of what God is doing. The devil is always trying to war against God's word, and here is something the devil has to scratch his head about, what is that up God's sleeve? What is going to happen there?

5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

This angel cries out, saying, "Time shall be no longer," so what does that mean? Did Timex finally take a lickin and stopped ticken, the calendars fell of the wall, does it mean suddenly the clocks stop? Well if time really stopped then we would be in eternity and that is not what is really meant here. We know that time still to exist because there are three and half years of Tribulation remain and that is time. There is another 1000 years of the Millennial Reign and that is time. There is even a short season after the 1000 years that Satan is loosed to gather up the last infidels and that is called time. Time ending is not what this means. This means there will be no more delay. God has been merciful and not poured out His total judgment on the earth’s population. He has allowed them to do their thing and brought judgment upon themselves. Now God is going to step into the picture. He is going to put an end to this thing, and pour out the most powerful judgment that the world has ever seen. The judgments brought by man's hand up to this time have been limited to third destroyed. God will no longer restrain the judgement. It will be total. This is now the time when Christ is going to rise up and judge the world. Then he will bring the kingdom of God on this earth.

7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

God is pulling out all stops and putting the world on notification that everything that happens from here on out is by his hand, there is no more mystery.


8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. 9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. 10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

The last thing we want to do with this chapter is to understand something about the little book itself. Now John is told to take the book out of the hand of the angel and eat the book. He is also told what the effect will be when he eats it. The scripture says it will be sweet in his mouth and then bitter in his belly. Have you ever experienced anything like that? Why did he say that? It is sweet to understand the plan of the prophecy. It all gets clear, what God is planning, doing, and where he is headed. Then you start thinking about the whole picture, and realize that it means death to most of the people that you know, the people that you love. That means there isn't a bright future for this world. It means every time that you see a new building being built, and you believe in the eminent Rapture, then you know that building will be gone. It is a bitter thing to think about. As a Christian it can be troubling, you wonder what kind of plan to make, or what to do about having children. People have all these thoughts, concerns, so how do you face the future as a Christian? Be ready for the Rapture, it can happen at any moment, live life like there is still 100 years to go, invest wisely, and the Lord will interrupt you. The Lord may give you plans, hopes and dreams of the future. He reserves the right to interrupt you anytime that he wants and take you to heaven. You have to live your life knowing, that whatever you are doing you might be interrupted. So you don't want to be interrupted in the middle of adultery, you don't want to be interrupted in profanity, but you do want to be interrupted in the middle of God's will.

11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

John is told that he is going to get off the island and he is going to prophesy in front of many people. John did get off the island and he did prophesy before other people. John is still prophesying today through the Bible, to you, me, the kings and leaders of our world. People are always referring to the Book of Revelation whenever any crisis happens in the world. They question and say is this the Apocalypse or Armageddon? So the world always has to deal with John's words. His words are telling them that something is coming. It is the role and the job of the church to keep the world familiar with the truth about this book.

Obama isn't the antichrist.... he's just a lousy socialist politician, who probably does have good intentions, and a lot of charisma which he uses to manipulate people into feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, while at the same time accomplishing nothing, or in some cases exacerbating the problems (ie, like he is doing with Afghanistan, and Pakistan).

How can the antichrist bring about the end of the world if he isn't doing anything?
