U.S. announces new airport security measures

All flights entering the United States now will be subjected to increased levels of security screening, the federal government announced Friday.

Racial or religious traits could be used to ID those requiring more thorough review.

Race or religion could be part of "fragmentary information" being used to select passengers but will be used "only when we have reliable intelligence that suggests that someone with that characteristic is a potential terrorist," the official said.

timothy wasnt on a flight entering the united states, and muslims etc.. are obviously the most likely to be a threat when it comes to flights entering the US

You are laughably ignorant on this topic. Take a look at the stats on this and you will find that most terrorists are not Muslim, terrorists that are looking for American targets are already based locally and not likely to pass through security checks at airports, and profiling is rarely effective as counter measures will already be in place.

One of the most vocal proponents of Muslim extremism in the USA at the moment is actually a middle class white guy who is a Muslim convert. The most dangerous threats to the USA are actually Christian fundamentalists.
