Here's what it means for the rest of the season.
Charles finished the day with 92 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries, also catching seven passes for 80 yards. That marks the second consecutive game that Charles caught at least seven passes, effectively establishing his status as a consistently elite fantasy football performer.
Admittedly, there is a shortage of players, specifically at running back, that have earned the label of a must-start player. Many times, even the best of stars will only be as effective as the matchup they face enables them.
Charles is one of the few who transcends that fantasy football law.
Start this man at any cost.
The key for Charles is that he serves as both a big-play threat as a runner and a checkdown option as a receiver. That's an especially valuable trait in point-per-reception leagues, as Charles is good for somewhere between two and five quality receptions per game.
Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith is playing a consistent and conservative style, leading to many plays in which Charles is trusted to run up his reception numbers. The yardage may waver from week to week, but in point-per-reception leagues, Charles is all but guaranteed more than 10 points per evening.
If you were skeptical about how Charles would perform in Andy Reid's offense, here's your answer: He's still a superstar.
