National Teams from over 30 countries and 5 continents were arriving to Ulaanbaatar all Wednesday and Thursday, day and night. The longest trips were from Brazil, Ecuador, South Africa, Australia and Europe. Ulaanbaatar welcomed us with rest of snow and slightly minus air temperatures. Chinggis Khaan Hotel and the Championships Office were prepared very well, so check-in and competitors registration went very smoothly.
Important part of the Championships was the Technical Meeting. Started with the IFBB President, Dr. Rafael Santonja general information about the IFBB latest activity and upcoming Men’s Worlds in Morocco, was continued by the IFBB Judges Committee Chairman Pawel Filleborn, who expressed once again the differences in judging criteria for different IFBB sport disciplines.
We all know that bodybuilding is the core IFBB sport with the longest, over 60 years tradition. But then we created a couple of other disciplines, which can’t be judged according to bodybuilding standards. In bodyfitness, bikini fitness and men’s physique too big muscles are not good and should be scored down. Too sharp definition is not good and should be scored down. Simply, athletes with bigger muscles and sharper definition are not from these categories and should participate in other IFBB divisions like women’s physique or women’s bodybuilding. If a judge came to the conclusion that a competitor has too much muscles and/or too sharp definition should score this athlete in the last place in the semifinals, as a competitor not from this category.
The same with distended stomach, called “big belly” and the artificially increased muscles (by injection of liquids). Competitors with these syndromes should be placed last in the category. It is a clear message that this syndromes will not be tolerated in the IFBB.
IFBB General Secretary Bill Tierney drew our attention to the size of costumes. We can see that in bikini fitness costumes are smaller and smaller. The size and style of costumes are defined in the IFBB Rules and costume should look like a sport costume.
At the end of registration I went with IFBB General Secretary Assistant Rauf Bunyataliev and Mongolian Federation General Secretary Ochir Ganbaatar to the venue to see the final arrangements. The venue is big, with over 3000 seats ascendant auditorium. We have made small corrections to the lighting arrangement and judges tables arrangements. The venue is prepared well to our event.
The Championships order will be as follows:
Friday, October 25[SUP]th[/SUP]:
- Morning session: semifinals and finals of junior women: bodybuilding, bodyfitness, bikini fitness, fitness.
- Afternoon session: semifinals and finals of junior men: bodybuilding, classic bodybuilding, fitness, men’s physique plus master women bodybuilding and bodyfitness.
