When some guys get in condition, you can see striations in their triceps; other guys in the same condition will have no visible striations in the triceps but will have striated quads or chest. Different guys will show different striations at the same level of conditioning depending on the depth of the striations in the muscle itself.

Why, then, are striated glutes deemed so important in pro bodybuilding? If a competitor does not have striations on his a** that's taken to be evidence of being out of condition, or 'watery'. No one would say the same thing about quads or other muscle groups (Phil Heath doesn't really get striations in his quads---it hardly follows hat he's not in condition).

Modern pro bodybuilding's obsession with huge striated a**es is unhealthy, counter-productive and---if we're honest---really creepy
