I injured myself lifting a heavy box in october, they gave me some meds and therapy exercises and a specialist appointment (which I never went to because the waiting time for consultation is like 3 hours long) I seem to be ok, It doesn't hurt anymore and it doesn't feel uncomfortable anymore I'm pretty sure I'm completly fine but still.. I'm not sure if it's a slipped disc but for what I've read on the Internet it seems to be that. One of the general doctors pointed out looking at the xrays that I might have a slight case of scoliosis in the bottom of the spine where the spine and pelvis connect. Nothing is certain though.Routines and tips will be appreciated

Even when I was young, I was already aware of the slipped disc because there was one guy in the neighborhood who figured in a sporting accident. He got paralyzed. The care I give to my spinal column is in lifting heavy objects. Whenever I would lift, say a big heavy box, I have to position myself upright and be sure that I stand erect after lifting it.

There was an incident in 1994 when we went on vacation in Hongkong. Maybe out of excitement, I had carried our 2 baggages on our way back home from the airport. When we reached the house, I couldn’t stand erect anymore as if I was stooping. That really got me scared when the chiropractor said that we have to observe it for a week. Fortunately the pain subsided after several days. That’s a neat lesson for me to be careful when carrying heavy objects.

Sorry to hear that @ptahm22, hope you recover real soon. Slipped disc can pose a danger over time if not watched. It can give shooting pain intermittently depending on the level of the spine it is located at.

Slipped disc usually become asymptomatic with resting and pain killers. Scoliosis is just a change in spine shape but if severe then can cause postural problems.
When lifting heavy objects, with existing spinal problem it is better to bend the knees while trying to lift an object rather than bending from the waist.

The best of course would be to totally avoid lifting weights which sometimes may not be feasible.
