When the UFC fight between BJ Penn and Yair Rodriguez was being advertised in the earlier part of 2017, hopes were high that Penn could make a decent comeback at 37 years old even if Rodriguez is only 24 years old and very agile. Penn was formerly champion in the featherweight and lightweight division of the UFC which is the premier MMA league. But as predicted by the oddsmakers, Penn lost the fight in the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] round by referee stoppage. Rodriguez made a punching bag out of the old fighter which looked pathetic in defeat. It is a sorry loss that maybe had put an exclamation point to Penn’s retirement.

Penn was always one of my favorite fighters. And probably one of the best pound for pound fighters in he's time. He's age and the constantly evolving sport just caught up with him. Hated to see that
