As per the column of one sports writer, pay-per-view in boxing have been losing big in audience and that may be due to the lackluster fight of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. It was a unanimous decision win for Mayweather who was successful in evading Pacquiao but the audience booed the fight because it seemed that there was no fight at all, no big shots, no knockdowns. And being touted as the best boxers in this era, the boxing fans were truly disappointed. With the planned fight of Mexico’s Saul Canelo Alvarez against reigning middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, perhaps the hype can bring back the big numbers of pay-per-view.

The fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather was sort of an anticlimax in the end. It seems to have been decided on perception rather than the reality of the match itself. PPV is subtly shifting to football but the bowing arena remains ever popular on live TV and on the arena.
