Powerlifting athlete suspended for presence of four banned substances

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced today that, Meana Franco, a powerlifting athlete, received a four-year sanction for an anti-doping rule violation. The athlete’s urine sample, collected during in-competition doping control on March 13, 2017, revealed the presence of Oxandrolone, SARM LGD-4033, SARM S-22, and GW501516.
In response to the CCES’ notification of the adverse analytical finding, Ms. Franco admitted the violation in a timely fashion (in accordance with CADP Rule 10.11.2), waived her right to a hearing and accepted a sanction of four years ineligibility from sport, terminating on March 13, 2021. The athlete, who resides in Ottawa, Ontario, is ineligible to participate in any capacity with any sport signatory to the CADP, including training with teammates.
In compliance with rule 7.10 of the CADP, a copy of the CCES’ file outcome summary can be found at www.cces.ca/sanctionreg.
