I don't believe the doctors at all.
They are all the general knowledge, after this their expertise stops.

Some of them are pretty smart, but this is more an exception than the rule

Maybe all of us here are health conscious. But for me, a healthy diet means one that I can still enjoy. Okay, less or no salt is better but as I said, why would I eat a bland food when I can make it delicious even with a little salt. Even with the drinks, I always wanted soda especially when the weather is hot. But I cannot drink soda all the time so moderation is the key to healthy living. And you can live up to 100 and enjoy your life too.

When ever I asked a doctor about certain aspects of my own fitness and diet program, she has no idea or just gives me the plain answer- eat balanced. So, no help there at all.

Well, do you have an example?

Okai, less or no salt is better but as I said, why would I eat a bland food when I can make it delicious even with a little salt. You can live up to 100 if your body makes it. Salt or soda are both individual, we are not all the same. Doctors shouldn't specify us into the same categories. It is not realistic.

Walk into any Doctors office and how many people do you see that are over weight? How many smoke? I know what I have been witness too. Now I will say that some of the people that I know are starting to make the needed changes to get healthy.

You're right! Life is too short not to enjoy it! We can eat healthy and delicious.I think the most important not to have habits-not to drink too much(2 glasses of wine on weekend is ok if you're not on cycle),not to smoke, sleep well, drink enough water. To live according to this rules is not difficult i think.

It depens which doctor do you ask.if it's a nutritionist then it's strange.but it's best to do a biochemical analysis and see for yourself. The best doctor is your body because it gives an instant reaction (in most cases)

Unfortunately it seems I can't do either healthy or delicious. All the female members of my family got horrendously fat somewhere around my age and as I can see by all my test results, nothing is wrong with me. I mean, I can't validate if those woman are also so healthy and I am not even close to their numeric value on a scale.
In my opinion they all get into that condition eating too much, having unhealthy habits like smoking, drinking, too much coffee and sweets, no activity...
I can be happy that I will not suffer joint or back pain because I am not mental to go to my doctor with 300 pounds and saying stuff like, it is not from my weight I am perfectly normal built... LOL
I will continue my program and hope this 'bloated' condition will eventually 'deflate'.

You don't have to ask a doctor about a healthy diet, just eat a balanced meal of all the food groups and you'll end up being healthy. You can also tweak the meal components, more or less according to your body built and or objectives.

Doctors probably know what is healthy or what is not, but being a physician is actually unhealthy because he is dealing with sick patients all day long. Physicians do not have much time to deal with patients, forcing them to rely on tests, labs and consultations, also dealing with medical records are quite demanding as well. So stress is very high for physicians, targeting them for high rates of suicide, divorce, depression, burn out, and substance abuse.

Well, it's not just any about doctor that should be asked about food one should eat because it's not their area of specialty.

When you want to ask doctors about healthy foods to eat, it's better to seek the knowledge of dietician because they are the ones well equipped to help you know what's healthy to eat.

Well that is very true it's always better to consult a doctor only in case of emergencies. Most of the diseases which are common and seasonal can be cured with natural remedies and medicines. Excess use of drugs can result in the weakening of the immune system in the long run. I think that proper diet , exercise and adequate amount of sleep and rest can keep you away from most of the diseases.

Exactly! Have you had any sad experiences with getting food poisoning when you ate outside in an open food restaurant? In as much as it's very important to eat a healthy meal, where and how it's probably prepared have so much to add to how it's going to be affecting one's life, health and body system in general.

There was one popular fast food restaurant over here, I wouldn't mention the name for privacy sake, I was hospitalized for 3 good days as a result of food poisoning. After this experience, I have never gotten myself to eat anything prepared outside my kitchen.

As someone who has been vegan for 2 years, and then switched to carnivore, i know a vegan diet **can** be healthy, i dont think for most people with severely damaged gut biomes that it is, plants are hard to digest, have anti nutrients, compared to meat are low in both calories and nutrients per volume. But i have no problem with people who do veganism unless they moralize to you about it.

Seriously, no one can force anyone to stick to any kind of meal being a vegetarian or carnivores, it's practically one's decision to choose what works best for him or her. The problem with some self righteous people is that they always put themselves to be ahead of others in doing the right thing but they are so very wrong. I don't really give a crap about what they have to say when it comes to choosing my meal.

My brother-in-law who is a doctor is suffering from kidney problems with a high reading of creatinine. They couldn't give me a clear explanation of the cause but the hint is the diet. The specialist doctor who was attending to him said that health needs particularly the diet depends on the type of the body. In other words it's a case to case basis.

To a very reasonable extent what we eat or consume goes a very long way in determining the sort of ill health or good health condition we mostly found ourselves in. Take for instance when it comes to ulcer patients, they can only get better or far more worse based on what kind of meal they consume as well as the drugs they live on. One's meals contribute at least to 50% if not more situations with one's health condition.

What you reap is what you sow. If you want to have a long and healthy life, then eat healthy food and exercise regularly. But takes discipline, willingness, and determination to achieve that stated goal. Just follow the prescriptions and recommendation of your doctor, who rigorously studies human body and health for many years.
