Undefeated Ken Shiro had successfully defended his WBC junior flyweight title against mandatory challenger Jonathan Taconing via a stoppage in the 4th round. The challenger was giving the champion a good fight in the first 3 rounds but a knockdown in the 4th round seemed enough for the referee. Shiro earned his 9th KO in 16 wins.
