Rey Vargas will defend his WBC junior featherweight title against Tomoki Kameda on July 13 in Carson, CA. The fight is actually a rematch of their amateur fight when Vargas defeated Kameda. The champion is undefeated with 33 wins and 22 KOs while the Japanese challenger has only 2 losses with 36 wins and 20 KOs.

It was not exactly disappointing when the fight took the full route and the vaunted knockout did not materialize. Undefeated Rey Vargas ably defended his WBC junior featherweight title by a 117-110 score by the 3 judges. Vargas now has his 34th win and promised to give a better fight next time.
