Louisiana business man conspired with a local steroid UGL to sell anabolic steroids to members of an unspecified fitness facility.
Michael Mosura, a Louisiana businessman who was a franchisee of multiple Anytime Fitness facilities, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute anabolic steroids in U.S. District Court on August 8, 2019.
Mosura admitted purchasing large quantities of anabolic steroids from a local underground laboratory (UGL) operated by Brant Landry and his wife Julie Landry.
Mosura acknowledged that he used some of the steroids himself. He also admitted that he sold steroids to third parties over a two year period.
Mosura was originally thought to have had a more passive role in the steroid distribution scheme. Police suspected Mosura supported Landry’s sale of steroids to members of Anytime Fitness. But Mosura was apparently much more actively involved in the scheme.

“Further investigation revealed that Brant Landry distributed steroids to Mosura, who in turn consumed and distributed the steroids to third parties,” according to the official press release by United States Attorney David Joseph. “Mosura admitted to receiving and distributing the steroids.”

Mike Mosura was indicted as a co-conspirator alongside Brant Landry and Julie Landry.

The steroid conspiracy unraveled after a Bossier Parish Sheriff’s deputy noticed Brant Landry driving erratically on May 22, 2018. The deputy stopped Landry and found several drugs during a search of his vehicle. The drugs included 11 vials of injectable anabolic steroids and a plastic baggie containing Xanax powder.
Police opened an investigation and learned that Landry operated a steroid UGL and sold steroids to members of the now-defunct Bars and Scars Warehouse Gym in Bossier City. The Bars and Scars Gym was owned by Brant and Julie Landry..
The investigation revealed that Mosura was one of Landry’s top clients.
Mosura was the first defendant to accept a plea agreement. The details of the plea agreement were not disclosed.
Brant Landry and Julie Landry have pleaded not guilty. They are preparing to mount a defense against the charges in a trial scheduled for September 9, 2019.
Mosura will not be sentenced until the conclusion of the trial of Brant and Julie Landry. Mosura is scheduled to be sentenced before U.S. District Judge Elizabeth Foote on December 5, 2019.
Mosura was a Caddo Parish School Board member as well. He resigned following the announcement of his guilty plea in the steroid case.
