Chris Kisling can still sell beard care products online just not steroids.
Christopher “The Big Bearded Viking” Kisling, a corrections and custody officer at the Washington State Penitentiary, has been accused of selling anabolic steroids over the Internet by a federal grand jury according to court documents filed on February 11, 2020.
Kisling was charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance (testosterone cypionate) and two counts of the use of communication facility in causing or facilitating the commission of felonies under the Controlled Substances Act.

Ginger Beard Barbell accused of using the U.S. Postal Service to mail anabolic steroids.

Kisling allegedly shipped anabolic steroids to customers via USPS Priority Mail on two separate occasions – September 27, 2019 and November 7, 2019. Kisling has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Kisling was arrested by U.S. Marshals at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla on February 19, 2020.
Kisling was released pending trial given that he is an otherwise law-abiding and gainfully-employed citizen with no criminal record. However, he was originally prohibited from selling anything online via the Internet as one of the conditions of his release.
Kisling did not think the prohibition against engaging in online sales was fair given that he and his wife own and operate the online shop “Modern Day Vikings Beard Care”.
The judge agreed to modify the conditions of Kisling’s release. He is only prohibited from selling steroids or any other illegal drug online. Beard care products are permissible.
Allison Window, a spokesperson for the Washington State Penitentiary, revealed that Kisling is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.
Unfortunately, Kisling has been denied his rights to a speedy trial. The “exigent need to protect public health during the current COVID-19 outbreak” is cited as more important than the rights of the defendant.
