Former WWE World Hvt. champion John Cena is adamant that he is a clean wrestler who doesn't use steroids and works harder than anyone else in the gym to maintain his physique.

Related to last week's revelation that over 100 professional baseball players failed steroid tests in the past few years, Cena says he has very strong opinions about the fate of the violators.

"They should send the guys to jail," Cena said in an interview with Jim Moore of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer prior to Sunday's No Way Out PPV. "I'm not only a guy who will say I'm clean, but I'll beat my chest to the world that I'm clean."

Cena says he's getting married by the end of the year and wants to be a strong leader and role model when prominent celebrities and potential role models are slipping in front of the general public's watchful eye.

"I don't know when it happened, but nowadays it seems like nobody cares," Cena said about the lack of role models in society. "Our main figures are collapsing around us. People don't seem to know that other people are watching them."

If Cena can't be a role model to wrestling fans, he hopes he can spread his reach to the general public through his developmental as an action star. He hopes to fill a void in the movie industry for the next big action star.

"That's a giant void in cinema," Cena said. "Everywhere I go, the question is always: 'Who's the next guy?' I think I'm damn near the closest thing to come around the pike."

I think John Cena should be sent to jail for being a white trash douchebag.

Cena's acting is much more toxic than illegal drug use....

I wouldn't go as far as saying he is a white trash douchebag, he is far from that. He just needs to stop doing any interview that has steroids as the main topic. Everyone time he talks about them, he ends up putting his foot in his mouth. :footmouth:

I admire Cena's work ethic and drive, but what he said in this article is just plain stupid.

He could be natural. You will never know. I had a ton of friends that were naturally that size and ripped, but then again they were black and only ate chicken and rice because that is what they were a custom too.

Now saying that they all should goto jail, thats a little too far. I know for sure his boss would be in the slammer and most of his co-workers. I have a feeling what he said was taken out of context.

Probably something to do with if they cheated the game (baseball) they should be put in jail, even then its just a game. Come on.

Not when it is against the law. You don't have the right to break the law when you are a citizen of a country. Plus the laws have just changed such that users would be classified as dealers if they have more than a couple days supply. It is also now 5-10yr sentence, not a few months or probation.

Australia is likely to toughen its laws soon too.

As to John being natural; I'd like to hear from his brother. One thing I do know is that John couldn't exactly come out and say "Oh yeh I take heaps of 'roids." Great career wrecker that would be. He probably shouldn't say anything and just let his hard work speak for itself.

I think Alex meant, everyone should have the right to do whatever they want with their own body. The idea that drug users should be sent to prison is idiotic.

With that said, I fully support professional sports toughening their rules on players using drugs. Businesses have a right to choose what type of employees they want in their company and if you can't accept their rules on drugs, then you need to find a different job.

But only a pathetic human being would support the idea of putting athletes in prison for using steroids. And if John Cena actually said that, then he was a truly pathetic person.

^^ Don't disagree. Although country/company has to not be hipocritical about it. Can't say that "we don't want drug users" but then proceed to expect from their people and offer support to drug users.

Adverts in America are weird. So many drug adverts, pain meds, heart burn, sleeping pills, waking pills, viagra, etc..... Then you have people expecting professional athletes to perform at their best every week for 9 months of the year. Perfectly acceptable.

Putting people in jail for using steroids seems like a bit much. A fine or rehab would probably suffice.

As far as John Cena the Natural... LoL John Cena gets questioned for being natural more then any other natural athlete out there. His physique is awesome(minus his calves) and i can see why people would question it. But to me john cena in his competetion days is not that much bigger then turkish and we are talking 15-20 pounds on stage max difference there. John cena was mid 20s as well when he competed if im not mistaken. Turkish is only early 20s. Turk could easily stay natural and be bigger, heavier and leaner then cena was on stage. With that in mind I dont see any reason not to believe cena as a clean athlete with pretty good genes. (sorry to bring you into it turk, but everyone knows who you are on the forum)

Look at the guys who were above 240pounds lean and buff in wrestling before the wwe's critisized wellness policy. Cena is the only one who has kept his shape+muscularity+definition. Hes got to be a natty guys.

Well basically that there is a lot of "steroids/drugs are evil" talk. Yet there seems to be a fair bit of expectations on athletes and the general public to take drugs.

Back pain = drug
Headache = drug
Sports star = performance enhancers (steroids, pain killers, etc)
High cholesterol = drug

We don't expect people to just take a day off work because they have a cold or migrane or backpain. We expect them to pop a pill and get on with the job. Fat and overweight, no diet and exercise, take the drugs to reduce cholesterol and supress appetite.

So just a bit hipocritical for anyone to single out steroid users as evil or drug cheats or whatever.
