^Yes, I've been using basic movements only.
What that later means? Is it like after the squat or in second workout?

Thanks mate,

Yeh I'd be hitting each muscle 3 times per week. (M, W, F)

Have you had any experience with FB, UP/LB after having done splits and if so how did you find it?

Yes I went from split training to UB/LB and had phenomenal gains. I never had as crazy of an appetite as I did when I switched. I could tell that I was constantly burning way more calories and I was constantly recovering from brutal sessions. It was good to give myself a chance to let my body work together a little more....It will thank you.

I'm not talking about basic movements I'm talking about primary and accessory movements. So a primary is usually a major compound movement you want to improve (either to add muscle to an area or improve strength) and an accessory is something that will help you with that goal.

Weightlifters quite regularly do two sessions a day: first session is their pulls (snatches and C&J); and the second session is their accessories, like squats and GM's.

I'm going to echo Creator's tale here, since I changed to and 2x Upper/Lower powerlifting split earlier this year I have packed on a good 6-7kg. I'm abou to adjust my split to a sort-of 3x Full-body so we'll see if that makes any difference.

Great to hear and lol and the hunger. Ive got the same thing now. I can just pack away a ton of food after my workout and suprisingly it does feel alot better working your whole body as one unit, rather than one day with just chest and arms etc.

gotta agree with this. im doing upper/ lower now and my appetite is insane. i eat everything in sight atm. im actually considering full body 3x week; myself now, because as u say, it feels so damn good working large parts of ur body many times per week. feel like im constantly growing instead of like before, where i would wait for 7 days until hitting that mucle again. and would be recovered after 2-3 and just aching to train it again for the next 4 lol:/ :D

It's quite a good option, but is at its best when you do the major work (say a squat) in the morning session and then do accessories later (say Good Mornings or box squats).

For some reason I doubt this. I know IS have been posting about this as a good option and I have nothing to back it up its just my feeling. I can see it working with a major/accesorry split but SQ in the morning with Box squats in the evening would be too much for the regular lifter. I wouldnt do the same muscle groups twice a day.

Oly lifters also train more times a day but thats a really different training to what most peopel do here. The amount of volume they use would be overkill for most of us.

^^ You do have to balance the program especially when you are specifically after the strength and muscle gains. Weightlifters obviously do a lot of skill training as part of the workouts that just isn't present in other lifting styles to the same extent. So the box squats wouldn't be another heavy session, but relatively light work.

But the research is there, the proof of application is there, but in honesty who has the time to train twice a day? I'd say if you did you'd be a professional that doesn't do anything else all day or whatever else they do do is done half-arsed. For most people to train twice a day they'd have to give up a lot of the rest of their lives just to get to the gym, let alone recover.
