Who was the best James Bond/007?

IMO i think that Daniel Craig was the best James Bond so far. Like Batman i like the newest actor the most that has played these characters.

Have asked this question from my friends before and came to the conclusion that it depends in what era you watched them. Like the older generation felt Connery was and will always be the best ever, I think Roger Moore and now the younger guys feel it is Craig.

Maybe that it what makes 007 so special.

Sean Connery... even though he plays Sean Connery in every film he stars in.
Roger Moore, fuck yes.
Daniel Craig, a different style of Bond. A more buff and mean one.

I am torn between Connery and Craig, but I also really enjoyed Moore's Bond too.

Connery became Indy's dad for me.
Brosnan was good, but IMO made a better aging hitman in the Matador
Craig is good, just doesn't feel like a Bond movie to me, not his fault<writing
Moore was just straight pimpin, he had class and made the role his own. so I went with him

Ok now I voted for Daniel Craig but he is not the best Bond. To explain my rationale read on.

Sean Connery - Defined a role with machismo and flare and will always be the best Bond.
George Lazenby - Appeared in a particularly lame film and was always doomed.
Roger Moore - Was cheesy and schmaltzy but was what the audience wanted from Bond at the time.
Timothy Dalton - I didn't like as they tried to play him more hard line and it failed.
Pierce Brosnan - Was a cross between Moore and Connery which kinda worked but the franchise was getting to be more of an advert than good movie making.
Daniel Craig - Has taken a completely new approach and given the character grittyness, depth, and a level of realism lacking in other Bond's. He is a great Bond and was exactly what the franchise needed to regain and develop an audience and move away from what had become a cheesy advert for luxury accessories. Craig's role is therefore the hardest to walk the fine line between keeping the franchise alive, not discrediting lineage, and bringing a new realism to the role.

cheesy and schmaltzy

Noooooooooo!

I think Craig's Bond is good, don't get me wrong. But it doesn't feel like a Bond movie IMO.
Give Moore more credit than that, after all he did fill Connery's shoes. Think about the movies;
Live & Let Die
The Man with The Golden Gun
The Spy who Loved me
Moonraker
For Your Eyes Only
Octopussy
A Veiw to a Kill
