A nurse by profession, Jen (Jennifer) Gates-bodybuilder, grew up in a family of athletes. Her father served as her inspiration to be fit since her younger days. In school, she was an athlete in many sports–track and field, gymnastics, and cheerleading. She grew up having a gym at home because of her bodybuilder father.
Born in Indianapolis, her interest in bodybuilding grew every time she saw her father competing. She loved being in shape and getting her physique ready as she prepared for competitions. Though born with bodybuilding genes, Jen Gates loved shopping for makeup and lip gloss.
She is one of the inspiring women in a field dominated by men. Because of this, many mothers look up to her. They are inspired to be their best figure, whatever their age.
When she was growing up, she enjoyed lifting weights with his father. Jenn Gates only spent a few years in bodybuilding before transferring to the fitness and figure division, where she proudly displays and flexes her curves even if she is already a mother of two.
Jenn Gates is a licensed practical nurse in the pediatric department. She finished her degree at Ivy Tech Community College and enjoyed cheerleading.
After winning her first bodybuilding competition, she enjoyed the preparations for the Figure division. She spent most of her time in figure than general bodybuilding since this shows off her feminine figure.
Jenn Gates was always a favorite in the Fitness and Figure division. She has joined amateur and pro competitions, including Arnold Classic and Olympia. Her inspiration and motivation came from her husband, who was also a bodybuilder.
For her, the most exciting part of joining competitions was conditioning herself. She proudly shares her exercises, including squats and mile-long runs. Seeing the changes in her physique makes her feel and look good, which boosts her confidence during competitions.
Since being fit is expected in their family, working and training hard was not a stranger for Jenn Gates. According to her, if her career was not in bodybuilding, she could have been into kickboxing.
Now a full-time mom, her training routines are divided into different muscle groups. On Mondays, she works out with her legs. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, she does cardio workouts. On Wednesdays, she trains the rest of her muscles. Fridays are for her boot camp-style workouts, while Saturdays are for her leg strength and endurance.
She continues with her bodybuilding diet, where she consumes protein-rich foods. But now, she tries to enjoy different foods once prohibited in her bodybuilding diet. Because of her figure, she appeared on various magazine covers and campaigns.
Jenn is an excellent example of motherhood not hindering women from making their bodies look good. She firmly believes that bodybuilding is a positive activity for women and can be a powerful way of self-expression.
As a woman who made waves in the bodybuilding industry, her message to all women is to take control of taking care of their bodies.
The challenges of being in a man's sport made her disciplined. Despite the difficulties of pushing her physical and mental limits, she is motivated by her family to believe in what she can do.
With her hard work in training, she inspired many women. Many women, especially mothers, were motivated because of her success in bodybuilding.
