Maria Isabel Moreno, a Laredo lady, was caught after attempting to carry unregistered medicinal products, including steroids, across the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge. On February 11, 2025, Moreno came in a white 2015 Chevrolet Equinox and told a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) official that he was not carrying any declarable items. However, a K-9 unit alerted investigators to potential contraband in the driver's seat area, prompting a supplemental check. Officers uncovered a variety of undeclared drugs secreted behind the vehicle's firewall, including 120 vials of Gendi Pharma Super Test and almost 5,000 tablets of Oxandrolona Anavar. Homeland Security Investigations special agents took up the investigation. During interrogation, Moreno maintained she had no valuable information and, in Spanish, claimed she was not a criminal. She asked if she might pay a fee and go.
