Steroid Powder Hidden in Imported Chinese Cat Food

Customers officers seized the shipment containing anabolic steroids at the Philadelphia International Airport.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized a stealth international shipment of anabolic steroids at the Philaphelphia International Airport on March 9, 2020. The package contained 2.15 kilograms (or 4 pounds and 12 ounces) of raw testosterone 17 heptanoate powder.
Joseph Martella, the CBP Area Port Director for the Area Port of Philadelphia, noted that his department regularly examines express deliveries arriving from overseas for dangerous and illegal drugs.

“Customs and Border Protection will continue to examine express delivery parcels and seize illicit products, such as these steroids and testosterone, when we encounter it,” said Martella. “CBP officers remain vigilant in enforcing our nation’s laws and in intercepting dangerous products that are likely manufactured in unregulated and unsanitary facilities that may potentially harm American consumers.”

Who the hell orders cat food from China?

The Chinese steroid powder source used a stealth method of delivery to increase the chances of the shipment reaching its intended customer. However, the source chose to hide the steroid powder inside two bags of cat food.
This begs the question of ‘who orders their cat food from China?’
It turns out that China is the seventh largest export of dog and cat food in the world. China accounts for approximately 6% of worldwide sales of dog and cat food exports. Thailand, another popular Asian source for anabolic steroids, accounts for approximately 9% of worldwide exports.
So maybe using cat food as stealth method for shipping steroids to American bodybuilders was not such a bad idea.
Of course, the U.S. Customs is well aware of the “cat food” stealth method of delivery now.
