I am stuck between two trucks. I really want a diesel but have no real use besides having a big truck like I used to have. So I am getting rid of my expedition and trying to figure out which of the two trucks I want.
This one thats a 1999 F-250 for $13k with the 7.3 diesel but with 130k miles. The miles and the year is the only thing that makes me shy away and well the rising fuel costs. However, diesels can run over 300k miles without a rebuild. Diesel here is almost $3.70 a gallon though.

The next truck is a 2004 F-150 fx4 with 80k miles for $13k. It would take gas which is cheaper and also would get the same MPG as the truck above, maybe better.

Any thoughts guys? I am stuck on this one. The F-250 is cheaper to mod when hooking up the engine and lifting it. The f-150 is more economical. I am about to graduate college and have a job already secure so money isn't that big of an issue but still there. Give me your thoughts. :2:

Id go with the F-150, unless you really need a f-250, which i think you dont.

:e5dunno: My truck i had for 6 years got 10 mpg and my expedition gets 12.5 mpg now. Its not horrible for me. I make good money for what I do.

Thanks Rob and Vegeta for a real answer. I am leaning toward the f-150 but I have always wanted a F-250 since they came out with the SD series.

I would go with the F-250, reason being that the 7.3 should run you at about 18 mpg.. I have a 03 F-250 7.3 4 door- 4 wheel drive and I get around 18 mpg.. Now I do have a magnaflow XL exhaust banks power 6 and complete cold air intake so it does help but I find that diesel is more dependable then a gas burner.. Also the resale is a lot easier of a 250 than a 150.. What ever you do not go with the 6.0 or the new 6.4.. My mother just bought the new 6.4 traded in her 6.0 and both those motors can not even compete with the 7.3 also it seems a bit much for the 99 model crew cab, does it have leather? what state you in?

Also another reason why I would stay away from the 99 is those damn lock in lock out hubs that ford puts on all the 4 wheel drives I have to replace mine at least twice...

Well your first mistake is buying a Ford. But if you are going w/ the Ford, I would go with the F-150. It is a 4x4 right? I'd go with the 150, you can always throw a 6" pro-comp and some 35's on that bad boy if you get bored with it. Might as well go with the 150 the way diesel prices are.

I'm in Florida, and I think I might pick up a f-150 fx4 with 44k miles on it for $14k. We'll see 2morrow.

Well I went to buy a truck today, got the loan and all ready. I get a call and well sorry, its sold. Even though I told them I was getting everything done and all buttoned up. So I am sitting here with a $15k loan for nothing. Bullshit, I want to drive down to that dealer and kick his ass.
