Žydrūnas Savickas: one of the greatest strongman


Born on July 15, 1975 and now standing at 6ft 3in, weighing in at 155kg to 182kg, Žydrūnas Savickas is declared by many as one of the greatest strongmen ever born. And why not, he has gone on to win every single major strongman competition as a modern strongman competitor.


Žydrūnas Savickas's Early life and career
His interest in strength sports developed for the first time when he watched a Lithuanian strongman contest on TV when he was 14 years old. Three years after that, he took part in that same strongman contest and defeated a number of older and more experienced competitors.


Žydrūnas Savickas started training as a powerlifter in the same year. In his second powerlifting contest, he broke all the Lithuanian records! It was in 1998 when he won his first ever Lithuanian strongman contest. He then went on to win it for a total of 11 times.


In 2001, Žydrūnas Savickas had to deal with a setback as he tore both his patellar tendons during the canon’s wheel event in a contest on Faroe Island. The extent of his injury made many conclude that his career was over. However, nine months later in 2002, he won the Lithuanian powerlifting championships. And after a short while, he also won Lithuanian strongman contest.

Zydrunas Savickas got married to his longtime girlfriend Jurgita Savickienė on July 24, 2010. At the end of September 2010, a biography entitled Žydrūnas Savickas – A Man of Iron was published in Lithuania.

Actually not that much. In an older interview he said he eats around 6,000 cals per day while prepping for competition.
On the other hand, strongmen like Eddie Hall or Hafthor Bjornsson go up to 12,000 cals a day! Now that's insane lol.

Those guys are giants! I wonder how many calories thier body's need on an average day just to feed those muscles.

I would also love to know the numbers on thier blood work like cholesterol.
