Resistance training is quite a diverse form of workout in the world of fitness. There are hundreds of ways just to pick up weights, which can challenge your body and keep your interest alive in this style of workout. Powerlifting, weightlifting or bodybuilding are the three most common strength training sports you all must have heard about. The three of them look remarkably similar, but their goal is what makes them different from one another. Here we will tell you how three sports are different from one another.

Bodybuilding is a sport that judges the participant based on their physical appearance on the day of competition. It is a practice of slowly building muscles for aesthetic and strength purposes. The training session usually revolves around one muscle group for maximum time to get big muscles. On the day of the competition, participants pose onstage in speedos, bikinis, or other outfits and are scored based on their muscle size and symmetry. Even in bodybuilding, it is essential to lift weight for muscle growth, but the judgement is based on your appearance, not on physical performance.

Bodyweight training isn't specific to powerlifting or weight training. As the prime objective is just to increase the muscle mass, the participants have a lot of the opportunity to experiment with their workout routine. Bodybuilder performs high volume resistance training which helps in the growth of lean muscle mass and gives them the bulky look. Each muscle group is focused individually and the prime motive is to replace the fat in the body with lean muscles.

Bodybuilding training is good for those who want to build muscles and get lean. It is the most effective training as compared to the two others to get a fit and sculpted body.

Powerlifting is a competition that evaluates a person's ability to lift the maximum weight possible in one go, using a barbell. The participants can either perform back squat, deadlift or bench press using the weight to show their brute strength in a single movement. For powerlifting, the individual has to generate the maximum amount of muscular force to lift as heavy as possible on the three core movements. They are judged based on the technique and capacity to lift the weight at the given time.
