We are sad to report that Louie Simmons, one of the most influential figures in powerlifting, has died.
Simmons was known for his innovative training methods and helped popularize the use of safety squat bars, reverse hyper machines, and box squats. He was also a successful competitor in his own right, winning multiple national and world championships.
Simmons' death is a huge loss for the powerlifting community. He will be remembered as one of the sport's true pioneers. RIP Louie Simmons.
