After the middleweight bout of Brunson and Till, UFC is now going to the light heavyweight for its main event on September 12 in Las Vegas. Contender #6 Anthony Smith will square off with #11 contender Ryan Spann. This bout may be a prelude to a title bout to face champion Israel Adesanya.

Correction to the date of the UFC light heavyweight fight night between Anthony Smith and Ryan Spann. I had posted September 12 but it is actually September 19. I am sorry for the wrong date, it is a typographical error.

In the betting odds, Smith is the favorite at -180 while the underdog Spann is at +140.

The touted main event of UFC Fight Night ended not with a bang but somehow an exciting one. The rear-naked choke finished the game for Smith who peppered Spann with strikes like softening up Spann. Later in the round, Spann went down and Smith took the opportunity to get a finish by submission. Now that Smith has a streak of 3 wins he is asking for a rematch with Rakic.

It felt like luck when Smith won. He obviously needs more skills.

With a little bit more training and access to a couple more fights, he will be ready for the big leagues.

A few more fights wouldn't hurt. I'm all for it.
