WBA interim light heavyweight title - Marcus Brown vs. Jean Pascal

The WBA interim light heavyweight title is up for grabs between Marcus Brown and Jean Pascal on August 3 in New York. Brown is the WBA and WBC silver champion with a fight record of 23 wins and 16 KOs. Former champion Jean Pascal sports a record of 33-6-1 with 20 KOs. It’s about time that Brown is ready for bigger fights if he wins this one against Pascal.

Former light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal earned a technical decision win on the strength of the 3 knockdowns he made against undefeated Marcus Browne. But looking deeper, Browne was ahead in the striking department short of dominating the bout. Browne was on his way to getting ahead in the scorecards when a head clash happened in the 8th round. The fight was stopped due to injury and the current scoring was used for the decision. It was an accidental head butt that caused the victory to slip away from Browne.
