Probably the must underrated bodybuilder. Baker pretty much had it all. No weak body parts except for hams if you want to be picky. Some of the roundest muscle bellies ever, mass, proportions and aesthetic to top it off. Should of placed higher throughout his career, but we all know why (WBF).

Really impressive. Totally balanced, mass, conditioning...aesthetics.

I got a pretty good kick out of the backdrop for these videos. It makes me wish they would bring back the metallic colors. Maybe they are still around though, but not in the competitions that I have seen, but that is also not nearly as many as I am sure others have seen. I always like getting a throw back to the younger years, though, and this goes a good job of that. Thanks for sharing.

Aaron Baker was a beast! He won the NPC USA Championships back in 1990 but wasn't really a serious competitor in the 96 Olympia. He came in 11th.

Many bodybuilders have made their names in the competitive scene. Aaron Baker, a bodybuilder, is not an exception. With his full-blown arms and muscular lower body, it cannot be denied that Baker was recognized in different bodybuilding competitions.

Born in 1960 in Marna del Rey, California, Baker started his amateur career in the 1980s. It was when bodybuilding was one of the most sought-after sports in the country. Baker was one of the best bodybuilders during his amateur days.

Even after retiring in the year 1998, Baker continued to use his years of bodybuilding training in a different scene. He joined pro wrestling and even joined another bodybuilding competition. Ending a long-term career as a bodybuilder is a change of environment. Especially for him because he has done it for almost 20 years. Baker has even included a cast in a few films that needs his muscular physique.

Aside from being called the Batman of the bodybuilding scene and Dark Angel from pro wrestling, Baker is now a preacher and a speaker who spreads the word of the church. Though he does not use his years of training for this, he believes that what he is doing now is gratifying.

Early Life: Athlete at an Early Age​

Aaron Baker had a peak of his career during the 1990s. He was one of the bodybuilders who showed a perfect physique during his time. Before being a professional bodybuilder, the Batman of bodybuilding entered amateur bodybuilding in the 1980s.

His first competition was Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Mr. USA, where he landed in fifth place. For ten years before becoming a professional bodybuilder, he continued to join several amateur bodybuilding competitions.

After winning the NPC USA Championships in the heavyweight division, he eventually entered the professional scene.

Bodybuilding Career: Winning Championships​

His first professional competition was under the World Bodybuilding Federation under Vince McMahon, the annual WBF Grand Prix in 1991. He landed 6th place, but it did not stop him from being a competitive bodybuilder. He continued joining the WBF Grand Prix in 1992, where he placed 3rd.

Many bodybuilding enthusiasts believe that this was his biggest mistake in being a pro. However, after two years in WBF, his career failed, and he switched to International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation. He was initially denied from joining competitions under IFBB not until he left the WBF.

Since he did not stop training after retirement, he joined professional wrestling for three years. He still enjoyed the thrill of competitions.


Training Routine: Regular Workouts

Aaron Baker mainly focused on his arms and upper body, one of the highlights of joining a bodybuilding competition. As a volume trainer, his competitive weight was 236 pounds.

He needed to lose muscle mass, which eventually changed his workout routines. Unlike many bodybuilders who work out daily for hours, his was only a maximum of 4 times a week in less than an hour. He focused on his arms since these were his advantage.

A clip from his chest and arm training for 1998 Mr. Olympia became available online. It showed his entire upper body workout, where he lifted dumbbells and barbells.

Now that he has aged, he still does an intense workout daily to keep his shape. However, his daily workout changed. His cardio exercises are done in the morning, and weight training before the evening. The double-split workout schedule allows his body to train and rest it needs.

Diet Plan: Eating Habits​

Bodybuilders need to have an appropriate amount of nutrients in their bodies to get strength in working out. They load up protein, carbohydrates, and some fats as part of their balanced diet. Each meal is portioned with a specific amount of these nutrients.

Main sources of protein include chicken breast, eggs, lean meat or steak, legumes, quinoa, and other dairy products. Adding protein powder to their diet may also be needed to provide an additional supplement, which can be taken as a drink while working out. Usually, bodybuilders like Aaron Baker eat a post-workout meal for muscle recovery.

According to Baker, his meals were prepared with the usual protein sources. The meals are varied, so he does not easily get sick with the same meals.

Accomplishments: Award-Winning Record​

Though he did not win first place in WBF Grand Prix, Mr. Olympia, Arnold Classic, and Iron Man Pro, Baker continued joining bodybuilding competitions after his retirement. For him, his bodybuilding career was an unfinished business. He said that meeting with his fans after his retirement made him decide to join another bodybuilding competition.

It was believed that due to politics, he could not grab any winning titles until he retired since WBF is the rival of IFBB. Though he had no first-place titles, Aaron Baker had 9th to 14th place when he joined Mr. Olympia from 1994 to 1998.

Another competition he joined was Iron Man Pro, where he landed 3rd in 1994 and 2nd in 1995. He also joined Arnold Classics from 1994 to 1998 but was unfortunate to grab a place higher than 6th.

Legacy: Impact on Sports​

Aaron Baker started competitively at a young age. Many bodybuilders and enthusiasts were looking up to Baker because of his physique, especially his back and lower body muscles. Though his career was at its best throughout the duration, switching bodybuilding organizations became a lesson to bodybuilders after him.

But him being retired and continued training is what bodybuilders are looking up to. Despite his age, he is still looking good in his physique. He still possesses pumped-up muscles and trains people who go to his gym.

He did not forget how he started. Instead, he continued to share his workout routine with those who wanted to be in shape.

Inspiring Others​

After leaving pro wrestling, Aaron Baker joined a ministry and serves full-time. He also travels to areas where people need him to speak. His speaking engagements are focused on spreading gratitude and praying for sick people. He shared the word of the church with those who had run out of faith.

With his preaching activities, more people have started to admire and be inspired by Baker. His words were not only based on church readings but also on what he had experienced during his bodybuilding career. Inspiring people should not be limited to what you are good at. It should be spread to everyone who needs it.

In an interview with Ric Drasin, he shared that even if you have aged and there is something you can do, you need to continue doing it even if people are discouraging you.

The career of Aaron Baker's bodybuilder was unpredictable, especially when he joined the church ministry. It was completely different from what he had done in decades. Though he did full-time preaching, he still trained people in his gym and continued to work on his physique daily.
