Ray Williams, the first ever man with arguably the heaviest raw squat!
Born on 15 September 1986, Ray Williams grew up in Demopolis, Alabama. He got inspired to take up weightlifting because his brother was into it.
Ray Williams got into powerlifting in 2012 just to go on to become the first ever human to do a raw squat of over 1000 lbs in a competition of IPF standards. He made history at the 2018 Arnold Classic Sports Festival in Ohio when he squatted a whopping 485 kg(1,069 lbs) setting a new IPF world record in the 120+ kg weight category.
Ray Williams placed 1st in The 2018 Arnold classic- SBD Pro American! The legend in the making stands 6 feet and 1 inch tall.
Ray Williams Early life and beginnings
While being a budding teenager, he used to participate in several athletic events, American football in particular. He was lifting weights in the gym and his brother called and told him that he had competed in Alabama state championship. This encouraged him to switch and train more as a powerlifter. Ray says that he could easily squat in 700lbs when he started training seriously.
