Last night’s strawweight fight in One FC showed how to beat a grappler with the irritating style of fighting. Octagon veteran Rene Catalan punished Yoshitaka Naito with hard punches on the head as a retaliation for the boring style of grappling. Although Naito was successful in taking down Catalan, there was no score to speak of. As a counter measure, Catalan would release hard punches whenever he would have the chance until Naito suffered enough from the pounding that the referee had to stop the fight. I think fighters should learn from Catalan’s style of fighting against a grappler.
