Top bodybuilder Nathan DeAsha has been branded a disgrace to the sport by a judge after he used his fame to sell illegal steroids to gym users.
DeAsha was forced to pull out of the Mr Olympia event in Las Vegas at the weekend so he could attend his sentencing hearing in Exeter Crown Court.
He was handed a suspended jail term after a judge told him he had damaged not only his own reputation but that of the sport as a whole.
DeAsha supplied £10,000 worth of illegal steroids to the Pain and Gain gym in Barnstaple, North Devon over three months in 2017 after giving a body building demonstration to 250 customers.
He told the training seminar he used steroids he help build his own muscles and went on to send a large number of the class C drugs to the gym.
Police found them in a locked boiler room when they raided the gym, which owner Richard Green was also using as a front for cocaine and ecstasy dealing.
DeAsha's finger print was found on the steroids and he had put his gym in Liverpool as the return address, an act which was described a stupidity by the prosecution.
The 33-year-old father-of two is one of Britain's top body builders and the current British Grand Prix champion.
He was due to appear at the Mr Olympia contest in Las Vegas last week, which is one of the world's most prestigious events and numbers Arnold Schwarzenegger among previous winners.
He pulled out at the last minute when he realised he could not compete and get back in time for the sentencing hearing. He performs as The Prophecy and his gym in Liverpool has the same name.
DeAsha, of Grange Lane, Gateacre, Liverpool, admitted being concerned in the supply of steroids and was jailed for 12 months, suspended for 15 months and ordered to do 300 hours unpaid community work.
Judge David Evans also set a timetable under the Proceeds of Crime Act which is likely to result in him having to repay any profits he made from selling the steroids.
