(ANSA) - Rome, June 28 - A 14-year-old male cyclist tested positive for a powerful anabolic steroid after a regional race, Italy's National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) said Wednesday.
The boy, who tested positive for Mesterolone, is the youngest person ever caught doping in Italy, it said.
He was immediately suspended by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI).
"Resorting to doping in sport is already something criminal; in a case like this we are faced with a crime against humanity," doping expert Carlo Tranquilli told ANSA. "It's madness," said Tranquilli, head of the Lazio chapter of the Italian sports doctors federation FMSI and former Italy under-21 soccer team doctor.
"We're well beyond ordinary crime here. Something beyond all logic, which is perverted in itself. But in the case of a kid, because at 14 you're just a kid, the picture becomes really worrying. "At a youth level, too, doping is strongly rooted now. That means that those children have fully fledged criminal organisations around them. Mesterolone, he added, "is an anabolic steroid with devastating side effects".

He is a future ? he has already learned to win in sports is doing what ever it takes. Steroids do not improve your motor skillz or hand eye coordination just pure aggression and strength hahahahhah

This should not come as a surprise. The young generation in different
disparate jurisdictions are being exposed to all posts of influences.
They copy them from their older brothers or peers who project an image
of sophistication or being macho.. Because they are familiar to them,
they assume no evil can befall them by copying from their trusted
friends. Worse still is the influence of the internet where you can
even source almost every other thing.

Teens' bodies are still developing and taking steroids have a high risk of acquiring serious adverse effects sometimes irreversible. It includes impotence, infertility, hypertension and heart and liver problems. Males may experience shrinkage of their testes while girls may experience irregular menstruation. Both sexes might also experience mood swings and aggressive behavior which have negative impacts in their social life.

And it is sad to know that this 14-year old kid who have underdeveloped body took a risk in taking steroids.
