2022 Mr Borneo won by Brunei's bodybuilder


Mr Borneo 2022 was won by Brunei's best bodybuilder Zorizal Hj Johari, who outflexed his competitors in the Papar Community Hall on Saturday.

Zorizal, who recently won silver at the 13th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports (WBPF) Championships in Thailand, was in his element as he won first place in the Men's Open Bodybuilding event to claim the coveted title.

Brunei's Abd Aziz Hj Tuah finished second, ensuring a clean sweep of the first two spots, while Sabah's Hyril Ariff finished third.

Brunei's Mohd Alimasdi Hj Alisa and Sabah's Paijar Apau finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

The main event was one of the three Open categories competed in the Mr Borneo 2022 Bodybuilding and Physique Championships.

The other two events are the Men's and Women's Open Body Beautiful.

Russel De of Sabah finished first, followed by Hj Mohd Aidil Karim Hj Abd Wahid of Brunei and Brandon Joel of Sabah.

Tina Anak Nubib of Sarawak won the women's tournament with Sabah pair Flavia Juprin and Valerie John in second and third placings respectively.

The competition, which was organized by the Pantai Manis Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) in partnership with the Sabah Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) and the Papar District Office, also included eight Closed divisions.

The event, which is part of SBBA's yearly schedule, was also supported by the Sabah Sports Council (MSN Sabah) and the Malaysian Bodybuilding Federation (MBBF).

Amrun Asmawi Sidie, Delvislee Sabidor, and Noel Spencer Andreas were the top three winners in the Men's Bodybuilding below 60kg division, while Breezy Alfred Dennis won the 60.1kg to 75kg category, defeating Syaripudin Amir and Gerry Husin.

The Men's Bodybuilding 65.1kg-70kg championship went to Chai Fook On while Mohd Asraf Hamzah and Andreas Baritus settled for second and third placings respectively.

Zong Chien Hat claimed the Men's Bodybuilding 70.1kg-75kg title defeating Mohd Dzulkarnain and Jaya Salvatus while Hyril was the winner in the Men's Bodybuilding 75.1kg-80kg with Paijar and Mohd Azlan in second and third placings respectively.

Joel Justin won two titles: Men's Bodybuilding 80kg and above and Men's Physique. In the bodybuilding competition, he defeated Bob Frender James and David Sakai, while in the Physique category, he defeated Fook On and Mohd Asraf.

Julita Maslan won the Women's Physique event, followed by Sharifah Atikah and Valerie John.

Bob Frender (men) and Julita (women) won the Best Poser award (women).
Assistant Minister of Industrial Development and Pantai Manis assemblyman Mohd Tamin Zainal proclaimed open the contest and awarded the Mr Borneo title to Zorizal.

Among those present were Papar District Officer and organising chairman Hadzlan B. Jablee, and SBBA president Joannes Staneslous.

The competitions attracted over 200 bodybuilding and physique competitors from Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan, and Brunei.
