York, England hosted the Official Strongman Games European Championships on August 2–3, 2025. When the dust settled, Ukraine’s Oleg Pylypiak took the Men’s Open crown and Britain’s Donna Moore clinched the Women’s Open with trademark consistency across five brutal events.

Event Order, Loads & Format (Two-Day Schedule)​

Five scored events ran across two days: Axle Deadlift, Log Clean & Press, Sandbag Toss, Super Yoke, and Sandbag Steeplechase. Saturday featured the first three; Sunday concluded with the Yoke and Steeplechase.

Standard loads (Open divisions): Men: Axle Deadlift 320 kg; Log 150 kg; Sandbag Toss (five bags, 18–28 kg); Super Yoke 420 kg for 24 m; Sandbag Steeplechase (implements totaling 140 kg each, 40 m with loads). Women: Axle Deadlift 230 kg; Log 100 kg; Sandbag Toss (five bags, 12–17 kg); Super Yoke 280 kg for 24 m; Sandbag Steeplechase (100-kg implements, 40 m with loads).

Men’s Open — How Pylypiak Won​

Event 1: Axle Deadlift (320 kg for reps)​

Pylypiak detonated the field with 11 reps, the only double-digit score, banking an early buffer. Four men tied on nine: Bennett, Butler, Lacina, and Johansson. The head start proved decisive.

Event 2: Log Clean & Press (150 kg for reps)​

A pressing shootout ended with Marek Czajkowski and Jack Osborn sharing the win at 8 reps. Pylypiak, Funiok, and Bennett stayed tight on 7, protecting podium math.

Event 3: Sandbag Toss (18–28 kg over beam)​

Jamie Butler stole the show: 5 bags in 13.87 s. Pylypiak clocked 14.26 s to keep command; Dawid Pakulski was third in 16.77 s.

Event 4: Super Yoke (420 kg, 24 m)​

Matyáš Funiok hit top speed for the win in 16.65 s, edging Czajkowski (16.95 s). Pylypiak’s measured run (24.17 s) preserved his lead with one event left.

Event 5: Sandbag Steeplechase (140-kg implements, 40 m with loads)​

Funiok closed hard, winning in 32.36 s to surge into silver overall. Pylypiak’s controlled finish (44.88 s) sealed the title.

Takeaway: Pylypiak’s day-one power and clean execution outpaced Funiok’s day-two charge.

Women’s Open — Moore’s Consistency Was Unbeatable​

Event 1: Axle Deadlift (230 kg for reps)​

Claire Myler won with 7 reps. Moore posted 6 for second — a smart, low-risk opener that set the tone.

Event 2: Log Clean & Press (100 kg for reps)​

Only three athletes recorded reps. Annabelle Chapman took it with 4; Moore and Maxine Winter shared second at 2.

Event 3: Sandbag Toss (12–17 kg over beam)​

Moore hit the gas: event win in 17.84 s, ahead of Patricia Smit (18.21 s) and Chapman (18.75 s).

Event 4: Super Yoke (280 kg, 24 m)​

Cassandra Annergren dominated in 19.76 s; Moore’s 50.29 s was mid-pack, but her running total still held.

Event 5: Sandbag Steeplechase (100-kg implements, 40 m with loads)​

Jana Roubalová won in 51.74 s, with Moore second in 52.76 s — enough to lock the championship. Moore’s score line (2nd–2nd–1st–mid–2nd) was the blueprint for a five-event title.
