This movie is based on the life story of Jake Lamotta, a former world middleweight champion. What’s notable in the movie is the very realistic portrayal of Robert De Niro. The boxer was shown on the ring and later in the movie, there was Lamotta who looked like a bum with his bulging tummy. That bulging tummy was real because De Niro had tried to gain weight to have that bloating tummy. And it’s only right for De Niro to win the Best Actor award for that.
