Bad for your back.

Great for working abs.

why is it bad for the back Timmy?

and what would u suggest for me to do to strength my "core"

I already do weighted crunchs leg raises and some machines not a big fan of the machines though...

There was a recent study that Stuart McGill et al. did on various ab exercises and their effects on the back. Basically the ab roll out style exercises were hard to maintain the correct form and thus put huge strain on the back.


Basically flexion breeds spinal flexion, which isn't a good idea.

I actually think planks and weighted stabilisation are the best methods. Freako posted a couple of the EFTS methods too, most of which are good.

power wheel rocks! Just take bar, add 10kg plates and start rolling!
One of the best exercises for abs.

Read a study a while back that showed roman chairs as having the best overall effect on abdominal muscle stimulation. These and hanging leg raises are about all I do along with v ups.

Also do Planks. They work your entire core section.
